Rúben Amorim verbally agrees to lead AC Milan until 2028 after a difficult stint with Manchester United.

AC Milan are closing in on a major managerial appointment, having reached a verbal agreement with Rúben Amorim. The 41-year-old Portuguese tactician is expected to sign a contract keeping him at the San Siro until June 2028, with an optional extension for an additional year.
Amorim’s arrival follows a turbulent period at Manchester United, where his trademark 3-4-3 system struggled to yield results. Following his January dismissal from Old Trafford, this new venture allows the Italian giants to rebuild after narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification by a single point.
Interestingly, the managerial shift provides financial relief for United, saving them roughly £8-9 million in remaining compensation. The drama will quickly come full circle this summer, as Amorim’s new-look Milan side is scheduled to face his former club—now led by Michael Carrick—in a highly anticipated pre-season friendly in Poland on August 15.
