Lamine Yamal expected fit to play in World Cup 2026

Barcelona have confirmed that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal suffered a hamstring injury in his left leg during Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo.

While the 18-year-old will miss the remainder of the domestic season, the club announced he is expected to be available for Spain’s World Cup campaign in June.

Yamal, who has netted 24 goals for Barça this term, pulled up immediately after scoring the winning penalty and was replaced by Roony Bardghji before half-time.

“This injury keeps me off the pitch when I wanted to be there most,” Yamal shared on social media, promising to return “stronger and with more determination.”

Hansi Flick expressed his regret over losing the winger, noting that Yamal’s absence is a significant “pity” as the club enters the final six matches of the season.

Barcelona currently sit nine points clear of Real Madrid, and while Yamal’s season is over, the club is prioritizing conservative treatment to ensure he reaches full fitness.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente faces a growing medical crisis, with Yamal joining Rodri, Fabián Ruiz, and Nico Williams on a list of stars fighting for fitness.

Despite the setback, Yamal remains the focal point of Spain’s Group H plans, with the national team set to face Cape Verde in their opener on June 15.

Medical experts suggest the teenager may be rested for the initial group fixtures to minimize the risk of a relapse during the knockout stages in July.
