Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa makes history as the first shot-stopper selected for six World Cup tournaments.

Guillermo Ochoa is ready to defy Father Time once again on football’s grandest stage. The legendary Mexican goalkeeper has officially secured his spot in El Tri’s squad, making him the first-ever shot-stopper to be selected for six distinct World Cup final tournaments.
The 40-year-old veteran, currently playing his club football in Cyprus with AEL Limassol, enters an incredibly exclusive club. By participating in the upcoming tournament, Ochoa joins global icons Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the few players to feature in six editions of the quadrennial tournament.
As co-hosts alongside Canada and the United States, Mexico will kick off the global showpiece on home soil in Mexico City against South Africa on June 11. Ochoa and his compatriots will then round out their highly anticipated group-stage campaign with fixtures against South Korea and the Czech Republic.
