Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has officially submitted a 55-man provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup, headlined by the inclusion of legendary forward Neymar Jr.

The 34-year-old, now back at Santos, has impressed with nine goal contributions in 13 matches, sparking hope that the iconic No. 10 could feature in his fourth world finals.
While Neymar’s inclusion is a symbolic victory for the nation, Ancelotti has maintained a firm stance, stating he will only select those at “100% physical capacity” for the final 26-man roster.
The news is less fortunate for Chelsea starlet Estêvão Willian, who was omitted from the preliminary list following a severe hamstring tear suffered during a Premier League clash with Manchester United.
Despite opting against surgery to keep his dream alive, the 19-year-old is reportedly unlikely to prove his fitness before the tournament begins on June 11.
Adding to the veterans’ presence, veteran defender Thiago Silva has also been named in the longlist, signaling Ancelotti’s intent to blend youth with experienced leadership.
With the final squad deadline of June 2 looming, all eyes remain on whether Neymar can transform this provisional nod into a flight to North America.
