Liverpool Stars Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez Involved in Heated Clash

Liverpool teammates Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez found themselves at the heart of a heated altercation during Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.

The tension between the two sides escalated after Tottenham defender Cristian Romero’s poorly timed challenge on Nunez, leaving the Uruguayan striker on the ground. The challenge sparked a mass brawl, with players from both teams, including Mac Allister, piling in.

Despite the heated incident, neither Mac Allister nor Nunez received further punishment. Mac Allister was substituted in the 80th minute, while Nunez continued playing until his replacement in the 72nd minute. Uruguay remained at full strength, but Argentina ended the match with ten men after Nicolas Gonzalez was sent off for a high boot that caught Nahitan Nandez.

Argentina, despite the drama, secured a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Thiago Almada. Following the game, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni praised his players for stepping up in the absence of several key stars. He emphasized the depth of the squad, saying, “The team is always more than just the names.”

Looking ahead, Argentina will next face their fierce rivals, Brazil, in Buenos Aires, while Uruguay will continue their World Cup qualifying campaign against Bolivia. Nunez, reflecting on his recent form with Liverpool, expressed his determination to use international duty as a way to regain confidence, saying, “I’m not someone who throws in the towel because they don’t play, but instead I’m going to keep working so I can play.”
