Real Madrid have officially announced that veteran defender David Alaba will leave the club as a free agent at the conclusion of the current campaign.

The Austrian international completes a memorable five-year tenure in the Spanish capital, where he has been a key pillar in the defensive line since arriving from Bayern Munich in 2021.
Club president Florentino Pérez led the tributes, thanking Alaba for his dedication and highlighting his iconic chair-waving celebration during the club’s journey to their 14th Champions League title. The 33-year-old leaves a stellar legacy at the Santiago Bernabéu, having secured 11 major honors including two La Liga titles and two European Cups.
However, Alaba’s recent seasons have been severely hampered by fitness issues, including a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury that restricted him to just 15 appearances this term. While his agent has reportedly explored potential moves to Serie A giants like Juventus and AC Milan, no agreement has been reached yet as clubs remain cautious over his injury record.
