The 31-year-old playmaker has been the catalyst for a resurgent Red Devils side, orchestrating their successful return to the UEFA Champions League.

The Portuguese international has racked up eight goals and an incredible 20 assists in 37 appearances, directly accounting for 28 goal involvements.

By matching the 20-assist milestone, Fernandes has equalled the historic single-season record shared by icons Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

He has comfortably outperformed his peers this year, creating a league-high 132 goal-scoring opportunities to completely clear his closest rivals.

This coveted accolade follows his recent recognition as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, underlining his absolute dominance.

He becomes the first Manchester United representative to claim the prestigious league award since defensive stalwart Nemanja Vidic back in 2011.
