Atletico Madrid defender Robin Le Normand suffered brain damage after a collision in the draw with Real Madrid.
Robin Le Normand has suffered brain damage
In the final minutes of the match between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, Robin Le Normand suffered an injury after a head collision with Aurelien Tchouameni. The match ended shortly after and therefore, no one knows the extent of the Spanish midfielder’s injury.
Hours ago, Atletico Madrid confirmed that Le Normand had suffered brain damage, resulting in a subdural hematoma (a blood clot between the skull and the surface of the brain).
“Robin Le Normand suffered a serious head injury in the final minutes of the Madrid derby. He has undergone a series of tests. The doctors have confirmed that Le Normand has suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI), specifically a subdural hematoma. In the process of bringing Le Normand back to play, we will follow all the instructions of the doctors,” Atletico Madrid confirmed.
According to Marca, Robin Le Normand’s head injury is not too serious. Atletico Madrid has not yet revealed how long the 27-year-old star will be out of action.
Le Normand has started eight of Atletico’s nine games this season and last month he played the full 90 minutes for Spain in their games against Serbia and Switzerland.
At EURO 2024, Robin Le Normand started 5/7 matches, contributing greatly to Spain’s championship. After that, he left Real Sociedad to join Atletico for about 25 million pounds.
